Childish Gambino: This is America

When Childish Gambino’s creative team approached us looking for a cutting edge laser effect for his performance of “This is America” on Saturday Night Live, we delivered Laser Banding. Laser Banding is a technique where cameras are manipulated into capturing only part of the laser light emitted. This is used to create a wide range of effects, from gravity-defying ribbons and beams, to highly energized, lightning-like flashes. Childish Gambino’s performance went viral and left everyone wondering “how did they do that”?
