youtube music awards: intro sequence

The YouTube Music Awards is an online awards show created to honor the artists who bring music to life on YouTube. Precision Lasers was brought in to create laser effects for the introduction to this show. In the video, actors walk through an environment of laser pathways created by a grid of overhead lasers. The walls of these paths appear as floating ribbons of light using Laser Banding. Laser Banding is a technique where lasers are programmed so only part of the laser light emitted is captured on camera. As people wander through this otherworldly laser landscape they are intrigued by the floating beams and interact with them. The lasers respond by changing color, shape and speed. Colors were chosen to perfectly match the branding of the YouTube logo.
